SidelineSwap supports shipping from Canadian sellers to U.S. buyers through Chit Chats and FedEx.
All SidelineSwap-supported Canada to U.S. shipments are sent Delivered Duty Paid, also known as DDP. This means any applicable tariff or import fee is paid up front, so the buyer should not be asked to pay tariff fees when the package is delivered.
Supported carriers
For Canada to U.S. shipments, SidelineSwap currently supports:
Chit Chats
Chit Chats handles the majority of SidelineSwap’s Canada to U.S. shipments. Chit Chats provides lower-cost cross-border shipping and forwards packages into the USPS network for final U.S. delivery. SidelineSwap is also working with Chit Chats to expand coverage for more Canadian sellers.
FedEx
FedEx is used for some Canada to U.S. shipments, including shipments where Chit Chats is not available or is not the best fit.
Will buyers pay tariffs at delivery?
No, not when the seller uses SidelineSwap-supported Canada to U.S. shipping.
If a tariff applies, it should be paid up front through the supported shipping flow. Buyers should not receive an unexpected tariff bill from the carrier at delivery.
If a seller uses their own label outside of SidelineSwap’s supported shipping flow, SidelineSwap cannot control whether duties and taxes were prepaid.
How are tariffs calculated?
Tariffs are set by U.S. Customs and depend on the item being shipped.
Important factors include:
- Country of manufacture
- USMCA eligibility
- Customs classification
- Material composition
- Declared value
Items made in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico may qualify for tariff-free treatment under USMCA when the proper information is provided. Items made elsewhere, or items with certain material compositions, may still be subject to tariffs.
