Why is my email or phone number already in use?
If you're trying to create a SidelineSwap account or verify your phone number and you're seeing a message that the email or phone number is already in use, it means the email or phone is already tied to an existing SidelineSwap account.
Why this happens
The most common reasons:
- You created a SidelineSwap account in the past and forgot about it
- Someone in your household — a spouse, family member, or roommate — created an account using the same email or phone
Try logging into the existing account first
In many cases, the easiest path is to log into the account that already exists rather than create a new one.
- Go to the SidelineSwap login page and enter the email address you were trying to sign up with.
- Request a login PIN — it will be sent to that email.
- If you don't remember your password, you can reset it from the login page.
Once you're logged in, you can update your account details (including your email or phone number) from your account settings.
If you're not receiving a PIN, see I'm not receiving a PIN when I try to log in.
If you can't access the existing account
If you no longer have access to the email or phone number on the existing account — or you don't recognize the account at all — please contact SidelineSwap support and include:
- The email address or phone number that's showing as already in use
- What you'd like to do — for example, recover access to the existing account, free up the email/phone for a new account, or close the old account
