SidelineSwap is a great place to buy and sell skis, both new and used. If you're looking to sell your skis, we've got a few tips to help you ship them safely.
Materials You'll Need
- Quality packing tape
- Telescoping box (8" x 8" x 72" - 132")
- Bubble wrap/newspaper
Our Seller Assist team ships skis out on a regular basis, and they recommend using a telescoping box to package your skis. We use Uline for boxes, and we recommend buying their 8" x 8" x 72" - 132" telescoping box. What's great about a telescoping box is that it comes in two parts, so you can slip your skis into one box and then cover them over with a second box.
For shorter skis, we recommend cutting the top box down to size so that there isn't a ton of free space for your skis to rattle around.
For additional protection, you can wrap your skis in bubble wrap, or stuff newspapers into the top and bottom of your boxes. If you're shipping a pair of skis that have bindings already attached to them, bubble wrap is an especially good idea. You don't want your skis to arrive to the Buyer with broken bindings!
If you cannot get your hands on a telescoping box, you can always use a box you already own. Rug boxes, hockey stick boxes, and lamp boxes are good examples of the proper size and shape box that you could use to ship your skis.
